Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2026: The Next Generation of Foldables and Wearables

Samsung is heading to London on July 22, 2026, for its biggest launch event of the year. This year’s Galaxy Unpacked is set to debut a brand-new foldable form factor, crease-reducing display technology, and heavily upgraded AI wearables.

Here is the definitive breakdown of what to expect based on the latest official teasers and major retail leaks.

    1. The Foldable Family Expands (and Rebrands)

The headline story of Unpacked 2026 is a major shakeup to the Galaxy Z Fold lineup, shifting to a three-tier strategy to directly counter upcoming competitor hardware.

    • Galaxy Z Fold 8 (The “Wide”): Samsung is introducing a shorter, passport-style foldable featuring a wider 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch inner display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Designed to feel more like a book, it aims to deliver a true tablet multitasking experience. To balance costs, it will sport a dual 50MP rear camera layout and a 4,800mAh battery.

    • Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: The classic tall-and-skinny silhouette moves up to the “Ultra” moniker. This flagship variant will maintain the larger 8-inch inner display, a massive 5,000mAh battery, and a pro-grade 200MP primary camera.

    • Galaxy Z Flip 8: The clamshell foldable sees iterative, structural refinements. Leaks point to a slightly slimmer chassis, a 4.1-inch outer display, a 4,300mAh battery, and a new processor.

Flex Titanium Technology: Across the entire 8-series lineup, Samsung is introducing an ultra-thin titanium-alloy film beneath the OLED panel. This architecture significantly reinforces durability and yields an almost invisible inner display crease.

    2. Upgraded Wearables & Extended Reality

Samsung’s summer event will also focus heavily on the wrists and the future of spatial computing.

    • Galaxy Watch 9 & Watch Ultra 2: Both smartwatches are getting thinner and lighter profiles powered by the new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip for better performance and on-device AI health tracking. The premium Watch Ultra 2 will steal the spotlight with a massive 800mAh battery upgrade (up from 590mAh) housed in a rugged 10ATM titanium case. The standard Watch 9 will offer minor battery updates and run the latest One UI Watch.

    • XR Smart Glasses Teaser: While a full commercial launch isn’t expected, Samsung is highly anticipated to share a deep-dive teaser of its highly rumored Extended Reality (XR) glasses. The showcase will likely focus on ecosystem integration and hands-free Gemini or Galaxy AI controls.

    3. Smarter Galaxy AI

With more screen real estate on the Fold 8 series, Galaxy AI is getting a major productivity overhaul. Expect announcements regarding smarter contextual writing tools, advanced multi-window live translation, and automated generative photo editing suites designed specifically to leverage the wider book-style layouts.
