While semiconductor giants usually steal the spotlight in the AI trade, a non-chip stock has quietly delivered a monster rally. GE Vernova, the power equipment manufacturer spun off from General Electric in April 2024, has skyrocketed over 500% to cross $1,100 per share, pushing its market valuation beyond $300 billion.

The driving force isn’t microchips—it’s the massive physical infrastructure needed to power them.

    Key Highlights & Performance Drivers

    Metric / Milestone Detail
Share Price Surge +500%+ since April 2024 spin-off
    Market Valuation Over $300 Billion
    Q1 2026 Orders $18.3 Billion (71% organic growth YoY)
Backlog Growth Expanded by >$13 Billion quarter-over-quarter
    2026 Revenue Guidance Raised to $44.5B – $45.5B
    Free Cash Flow Guidance $6.5B – $7.5B

“Data centers can buy all the AI chips they want, but without uninterrupted power, transformers, and grid connections, the hardware is useless.”

Why Investors Are Flocking to the AI Power Trade

    1. The Electricity Bottleneck: AI data centers run around the clock, consuming vast amounts of electricity. As chip supply stabilizes, access to reliable power and grid connection has become the new bottleneck for tech giants.

    2. Surging Electrification Demand: GE Vernova’s electrification division booked $2.4 billion in data center equipment orders in Q1 2026 alone—surpassing its total data center bookings for the entire previous year.

    3. Gas Turbine Expansion: Demand for dispatchable energy is soaring. GE Vernova expects its combined gas turbine backlog and slot reservations to reach at least 110 GW by the end of 2026.

    4. Grid Equipment Monopoly: Strengthening its position, GE Vernova acquired the remaining 50% stake in Prolec GE, boosting its capacity to deliver transformers and grid hardware directly to utilities and tech developers.
