AI Content Surge: India Records 15 Million Pageviews in 90 Days

Interest in Artificial Intelligence is skyrocketing in India, with AI-related content generating over 15 million pageviews in the last 90 days—a massive 92% increase compared to the previous period. According to data from Taboola Newsroom, this surge is being driven by both established giants and emerging challengers.

    The Rise of the Challengers

While the “pioneers” of AI remain popular, new players are seeing the most explosive growth in reader interest:

    • Anthropic: Content related to Anthropic (the makers of Claude) saw a staggering 2,096% jump, recording 2.5 million pageviews.
    • ChatGPT: OpenAI’s flagship tool remains a staple, generating 1.2 million pageviews as users explore practical applications and new features.
    • Meta: Discussions around Meta’s AI infrastructure and generative tools drew 2.2 million pageviews, a 30% increase.

    The “Zero-Click” Dilemma for Publishers

Despite the massive interest, data from Chartbeat suggests that AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity still contribute less than 1% of total web traffic to news publishers.

“Users often get the information they need without clicking through to linked articles.” — Chartbeat Analysis

This “zero-click” trend means that while audiences are consuming AI information, they aren’t necessarily visiting the original news sources, leading to a 6% dip in overall publisher pageviews compared to 2024.

    Concern Over “AI-Powered Brain Rot”

The report also highlights a growing concern regarding younger audiences. AI tools are reportedly accelerating the creation of “brain rot” content—short, overstimulating, and repetitive videos on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

Leah Plunkett, a lecturer at Harvard Law School, warns that AI allows creators to flood these platforms with low-quality content faster than ever, posing a psychological risk to children under 18.
