India’s non-life insurance sector experienced its fastest growth rate in five months this June. Propelled by strong momentum in standalone health coverage and private general insurance, gross direct premiums underwritten climbed 15.9% year-on-year (YoY) to reach ₹24,194.56 crore. This marks the strongest double-digit industry expansion since January 2026.

Data from the General Insurance Council highlights a multi-speed expansion, with health specialists significantly outpacing legacy general insurers.
