Artificial intelligence is no longer just an internal productivity tool for Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M)—it has evolved into a key engine for customer acquisition and top-line growth. Speaking at the company’s post-earnings briefing, Group CEO and Managing Director Anish Shah highlighted how AI deployment across vehicle engineering, financial services, customer support, and manufacturing is unlocking new market segments.

“Just using AI, these are customers that we would likely not have got otherwise, and that’s incremental revenue that comes in leveraging this technology.”

    — Anish Shah, CEO & MD, Mahindra & Mahindra

Key Operational Milestones Across Business Pillars

M&M’s enterprise-wide AI transformation spans product engineering, shop-floor manufacturing, financial underwriting, and post-sales service:

    • 30% Lower Customer Acquisition Costs (CAC): AI-driven cross-selling and predictive lead-matching models across M&M’s automotive and financial services ecosystem have significantly reduced user acquisition overheads.

    • Rapid Engineering & R&D Workflows: Tasks like aerodynamic drag coefficient simulations—which previously took 8 to 12 hours—are now executed in two minutes, accelerating vehicle design cycles.

    • Automated Financial Underwriting: Over 65% of loan applications at Mahindra Finance are now processed using its proprietary AI platform, “Samurai”, substantially speeding up lending decisions.

    • Shop-Floor & Service Integration:

      • Over 2,600 workshop technicians utilize AI-guided diagnostic support to shorten repair turnarounds.

      • More than 500,000 customer service requests have been fulfilled automatically through AI channels.

    Internal Capabilities & Infrastructure

To support its AI agenda without relying entirely on third-party software, M&M has invested heavily in internal R&D capabilities:

    Strategic AI Initiative Enterprise Metric
Proprietary AI Models Built 19 Models
Dedicated AI Engineers & Specialists 50+ Experts
Employees Trained via In-House AI Academy 1,900 Staff
Active Enterprise Transformation Projects 15 Ongoing Projects

    Strong Financial Backdrop (Q1 FY27)

The AI updates came as M&M posted stellar results for the June quarter:

    • Consolidated PAT: ₹5,455 Crore (+34% YoY)

    • Consolidated Revenue: ₹58,188 Crore (+28% YoY)

    • Segment Performance: Maintained leadership in SUVs with a 25% revenue market share alongside solid operational margin improvements at Tech Mahindra (+330 bps EBIT margin).
