Shoppers across India are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the festive season, and if early indications from Amazon’s AI assistant, Rufus, are anything to go by, the retail giant’s biggest shopping event of the year is just around the corner. While Amazon has yet to make an official announcement, Rufus has dropped several hints regarding expected dates, steep category-wide discounts, and lucrative bank offers for the upcoming Great Indian Festival 2026.

Here is everything you need to know about what the AI assistant has revealed so far.

    When Will the Sale Begin?

One of the most burning questions for bargain hunters is the exact timeline of the sale. According to early prompts handled by Rufus, the event could follow a couple of different schedules:

    • Initial Window: Rufus first hinted at a run from October 1 to October 23.

    • Extended Window: When pressed for further details, the AI suggested a broader window, indicating that the sale could kick off anywhere between September 27 and October 7, with the closing date falling between October 12 and October 23.

For eager buyers, September 27 stands out as the earliest potential start date. Additionally, true to tradition, Amazon Prime members are expected to receive a 24-hour early access window before the deals open up to the general public.

Note: Because these dates are generated by an AI assistant rather than an official corporate release, shoppers should treat them as preliminary estimates until Amazon officially confirms the schedule.

    Anticipated Discounts Across Categories

If Rufus’s insights hold true, massive price cuts are heading our way. Discount ceilings vary significantly by category, offering substantial savings on high-demand items:

    • Mobiles & Electronics: Up to 80% to 90% off. Flagship smartphones—including the iPhone 15, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra—are heavily anticipated to feature eye-catching price drops. Laptops, smartwatches, and headphones will also see notable deals.

    • Fashion & Beauty: Up to 80% off.

    • Home, Kitchen & Outdoor Products: Up to 70% off.

    • Books, Toys & Grooming: Up to 70% off.

    • Smart TVs & Large Appliances: Up to 65% off.

    • Groceries & Daily Essentials: Up to 50% off.

Bank Offers, Cashback, and Exchange Deals

Beyond base product discounts, the Great Indian Festival is traditionally known for layering extra savings through financial partnerships. Rufus highlighted several payment and trade-in perks expected for 2026:

    • SBI Card Offers: An expected 10% instant discount on SBI credit card and EMI transactions.

    • No-Cost EMI: Flexible repayment options extending up to 24 months on select high-value items.

    • Exchange Bonuses: Up to ₹25,000 in exchange value when trading in older devices.

    • Amazon Pay Perks: Cardholders of the Amazon Pay ICICI credit card can potentially earn 5% unlimited cashback on their purchases.

Smart Shopping Tips: How to Use Rufus Before the Sale

Shoppers don’t necessarily have to wait for the banner drops to start planning. According to retail technology insights, Amazon’s Rufus can act as a pre-sale research tool. Users can leverage the AI to track historical price movements from the previous 30 to 90 days, making it much easier to determine if a “sale price” is genuinely a good deal. Furthermore, shoppers can use the assistant to research specs and set target price alerts.

As we creep closer to late September and early October, keep an eye out for official confirmations from Amazon. Whether the sale drops on September 27 or early October, getting your wishlist ready early is the best way to make the most of the upcoming festive rush.
