Motorola G37 Power Review: A Budget Phone That Outgrew Its Value

Motorola has had a stellar run, but the Motorola G37 Power marks a sudden roadblock. Initially conceptualized as an affordable device launching at ₹15,999, subsequent price hikes have completely altered its trajectory. Now retailing at a much steeper premium, it finds itself forced to compete in a hyper-competitive mid-range market.

While the phone retains standout core fundamentals like an enormous battery and rugged durability, it is severely outmatched by rivals offering faster chipsets, crisp AMOLED screens, and superior optics at this price point.

    Technical Specifications

    Feature Specification Details
    Price ₹18,999 (4GB + 128GB) / ₹24,999 (8GB + 128GB)
Display 6.67-inch LCD, 120Hz refresh rate
    Resolution 720 x 1604 pixels (HD+)
Processor MediaTek Dimensity 6400 (6nm, up to 2.5GHz)
    Build & Weight 215 grams, Vegan-leather back, MIL-STD-810H, IP64 rating
    Cameras Rear: 50MP (f/1.8) | Front: 8MP (f/2.0)
Battery & Charging 7000mAh, 30W Fast Charging, 5W Reverse Wired Charging
Software Hello UI based on Android 16 (1 guaranteed OS update)

    Key Performance Benchmarks

The entry-level MediaTek Dimensity 6400 SoC is typically reserved for budget devices under ₹13,000, leaving the G37 Power severely underpowered compared to its price-matched peers.

Benchmark Motorola G37 Power Score Mid-Range Competitor Average (e.g., Dimensity 7400)
    AnTuTu v10 539,314 ~1,000,000
    Geekbench (Single-Core) 821 ~1,100
    Geekbench (Multi-Core) 1,333 ~2,000

    The Pros & Cons

    The Good

    • Monstrous Battery Life: The 7,000mAh cell is an absolute unit. It easily clears 17 hours in rigorous PCMark battery loops and yields a massive 7 to 8 hours of real-world screen-on time with plenty of juice left over for day two.

    • Premium Aesthetic & Comfort: Borrowing design cues from Motorola’s flagship edge series, the soft vegan-leather back feels great to hold, accented nicely by contoured edges.

    • Military-Grade Durability: Backed by MIL-STD-810H drop protection, the phone handles rough tumbles without flinching.

    • Audio Treats: Includes loud stereo speakers and a rare, near-extinct 3.5mm headphone jack that works beautifully with high-fidelity In-Ear Monitors (IEMs).

    The Bad

    • Dated, Low-Res Screen: At this price, an HD+ (720p) LCD panel is practically indefensible. Competitors like the POCO M8 routinely offer rich, high-contrast Full-HD+ AMOLED displays.

    • Sluggish Performance: Real-world usage is marred by persistent stuttering when swiping screens or loading asset-heavy apps like Google Maps. Gaming is equally rough; it struggles to stay above 48 fps in BGMI on lowest settings, plagued by frequent frame drops.

    • Painfully Slow Charging: Refilling a massive 7,000mAh battery using just a 30W charger requires a grueling 2 hours and 17 minutes to hit 100%.

    • Weak Software Support: Hello UI (Android 16) arrives with pre-installed bloatware, lacks modern generative AI tools, and only guarantees a single Android platform update.

    • Mediocre Cameras: The lone 50MP shooter lacks fine detailing, routinely over-sharpens images, and artificially oversaturates warm tones. Low-light photography is a gamble due to slow shutter speeds causing motion blur.

    The Verdict

Skip it at this price. The Motorola G37 Power gets the basics right if you purely care about battery longevity and structural toughness. However, the unexpected price hike strips away its value proposition. When forced to compete against well-rounded mid-rangers from Poco, Vivo, and Realme, its sub-par processor, 720p LCD screen, and slow charging speeds make it incredibly difficult to recommend.
