TCS Q2 Profit Rises 15% to Rs 13,884 Crore as AI Revenue Doubles; Growth Remains Subdued

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) kicked off the Q2 earnings season for India Inc. with a robust bottom-line performance, reporting a 15% year-on-year jump in net profit to Rs 13,884 crore for the July–September quarter. However, underlying macroeconomic metrics indicate that overall growth velocity remains measured.

    Financial Performance Highlights

    • Revenue Growth: Consolidated revenue from operations rose 11.22% year-on-year to Rs 73,188 crore.

    • Constant Currency Realities: While rupee-denominated figures look strong, constant-currency revenue growth ticked up by a modest 0.5% sequentially (and around 2.8% YoY), pointing to a selective and cautious spending environment.

    • Profitability: Net profit climbed from Rs 12,075 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, beating street estimates. Operating margins stood at 24.0%.

    Artificial Intelligence Drives Topline Expansion

The standout narrative of the quarter was the explosive momentum in artificial intelligence services. TCS reported that its annualized AI revenue run rate crossed the $3.1 billion mark, up significantly from $2.6 billion in the previous quarter.

    • AI-related initiatives now account for roughly 10% of the company’s overall revenue.

    • Leadership noted that enterprise clients are increasingly moving past pilot projects into scaled operational deployments, making AI the fastest-growing segment in the portfolio.

    Outlook and Deal TCV

TCS recorded a total contract value (TCV) of $9.6 billion for the quarter, supported by major transformation partnerships globally. While management expressed confidence looking at the robust deal pipeline, the modest underlying constant-currency expansion shows that clients remain selective and cost-conscious amid broader macroeconomic uncertainties.
