WhatsApp has officially launched a native Bill Payments feature in India, allowing users to find, manage, and settle household and utility bills directly inside the chat app.

    Key Features and Details

    • Network & Reach: Powered by the Bharat Connect (BBPS) network, the service provides access to over 22,700 billers across 30 distinct categories.

    • Supported Payments: Users can pay for everyday essentials including electricity, water, gas, FASTag recharges, insurance premiums, credit card bills, and loan repayments.

    • Payment Methods: Transactions can be completed using UPI, as well as debit and credit cards.

    • Account Management: The platform allows customers to track upcoming bills, view past payment history, and manage multiple accounts under a single provider (such as separate utility meters for a home, office, or family members).

How to Use WhatsApp Bill Payments

    1. Open WhatsApp and tap the rupee icon (₹) located at the top of the home screen.

    2. Select your desired bill category and choose your biller.

    3. Enter and confirm your account/consumer details.

    4. Review the fetched bill amount and breakdown.

    5. Select your preferred payment mode (UPI, Debit Card, or Credit Card) and complete the payment.

The feature is currently being rolled out gradually across India and will become available to all Android and iOS users over the coming weeks.
