Apple has officially launched its digital payment service, Apple Pay, in the Indian market, marking a major milestone for the tech giant’s financial services expansion. For its initial rollout, Apple has partnered exclusively with Axis Bank, allowing users to link their Axis Bank Visa and Mastercard credit cards to the platform.

This highly anticipated move integrates Indian iPhone and Apple Watch users into Apple’s seamless, contactless payment ecosystem. Entering an already fiercely competitive and rapidly expanding digital payments landscape dominated by UPI-based platforms, Apple Pay’s current focus on credit card networks signals a strategic start. Industry experts anticipate that this debut phase with Axis Bank will soon pave the way for broader integrations with other leading Indian financial institutions and payment networks.
