Homegrown private equity major ChrysCapital is reportedly finalizing a deal to acquire a 20-25% stake in Chennai-based pharmaceutical firm Linux Laboratories for approximately $60–$65 million (around ₹600 crore).
The transaction marks a complete exit for Tata Capital Healthcare Fund, which currently holds a 15% stake in the domestic formulations company, alongside an additional secondary purchase of shares.
Focus on CNS Therapies and Growth
Linux Laboratories specializes in central nervous system (CNS) therapeutic treatments and boasts a robust portfolio of established pharmaceutical brands. Backed by strong market positioning, the company anticipates sustained, robust growth in both revenue and EBITDA over the coming years.
Sustained Private Equity Interest in Indian Pharma
This acquisition underscores the continued, aggressive appetite among private equity heavyweights for specialized assets within India’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. With domestic formulation players demonstrating steady cash flows and high clinical demand in niche therapeutic areas like CNS, firms like ChrysCapital are increasingly doubling down on scaling these mid-market healthcare champions.
