Reliance Retail has officially acquired Anomaly, the global haircare brand founded by actor-entrepreneur Priyanka Chopra Jonas. This strategic move solidifies Reliance’s intent to dominate the rapidly expanding beauty and personal care (BPC) market in India and abroad.

    Key Details of the Deal

    • Ownership: Reliance Retail now holds full ownership of Anomaly’s intellectual property, trademarks, and digital assets.

    • Creative Partnership: Priyanka Chopra Jonas will remain the Creative Director, continuing to lead product innovation and the brand’s strategic direction.

    • Strategic Fit: The brand will be integrated into Reliance’s omnichannel ecosystem, including its premium beauty platform, Tira.

    Strategic Vision

The acquisition is a win-win for both parties, focusing on scaling a “clean beauty” philosophy through massive retail infrastructure.

    • Reliance’s Objective: Isha Ambani noted that Anomaly’s focus on clean, vegan, and affordable formulations makes it a “compelling addition” to their portfolio of new-age brands.

    • Global Expansion: While India is a primary focus—with plans for products tailored specifically to local hair needs—the partnership aims to grow the brand’s footprint in North America, the UK, and the Middle East.

    • Growth Potential: By leveraging Reliance’s massive offline and digital footprint, the brand expects to significantly increase its accessibility to a broader consumer base.

    About Anomaly

Launched in 2021, Anomaly disrupted the market by offering high-performance, vegan, and sustainable haircare at an accessible price point. Its “clean” formulation philosophy has resonated with environmentally conscious consumers, a segment Reliance is now poised to capture.
