Gautam Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Group, delivered a keynote address at the CII Business Summit on Monday, highlighting the critical link between energy independence and national sovereignty. He argued that true self-reliance is impossible for any nation that remains dependent on external sources for its energy needs.
The Dual Pillars of National Strength Adani identified energy security and digital security as the twin foundations of modern national power. Drawing lessons from recent global conflicts and attacks on infrastructure in the Middle East, he noted that the future belongs to nations that command their own resources.
“A country that controls its energy will drive its industrial future, and a country that controls its compute will drive its intelligence future,” Adani stated, emphasizing that these two sectors are now inseparable.
Learning from Global Giants He pointed out that despite their different political systems, both the United States and China have aligned on the same strategic objective: independence in energy and artificial intelligence. He specifically noted China’s aggressive shift toward self-sustained AI leadership, highlighting their realization that national sovereignty cannot rely on foreign-made microchips.
Reorganizing Supply Chains Adani also addressed the ongoing shift in global trade, observing that supply chains are increasingly being reorganized to serve national interests. While he acknowledged the necessity of this trend, he advocated for maintaining open systems to ensure global stability.
His remarks come at a time of heightened global volatility, reinforcing the idea that the next era of industrial and intellectual growth will be won by nations that secure their own energy and technology pipelines.
