Credo Technology reported better-than-realized fiscal first-quarter results, yet its shares dropped more than 4% post-announcement. The muted market reaction despite a top-and-bottom-line beat underscores the lofty expectations currently priced into AI-driven semiconductor and infrastructure plays.

    • Explosive Revenue Growth: Q1 revenue surged 115% year-over-year to $479 million, comfortably topping Wall Street estimates, driven by insatiable demand for high-speed connectivity solutions in AI data centres.

    • Earnings Beat: The company posted adjusted earnings of $1.20 per share, edging past analyst expectations of $1.16 to $1.17 on the back of strong operating momentum.

    • Upbeat Q2 Guidance: Credo projected fiscal second-quarter revenue between $525 million and $535 million, the midpoint of which outpaces consensus forecasts and points to sustained sequential expansion.

    • Margin Dynamics: Adjusted gross margins came in at 68% (compared to 68.3% in the prior quarter), with management guiding for a Q2 margin range of 67% to 69% as investors monitor profitability closely.

    • The “Beat-and-Drop” Dynamic: Despite triple-digit growth and an earnings beat, shares slipped as market participants had priced in an even larger upside surprise, highlighting the strict valuation hurdles facing AI-adjacent equities.
